Some of my astute followers may notice that over the past few days, I have made some changes to my blog. It now has a full mobile theme, including an iPad theme. I have also implemented commenting by Disqus. Also of note is the fact that I removed the ad to the right of the page. I never got any money from that thing and to be honest, the ads that were on there were just annoying me; not to mention were going against the guidelines I had set for ads.

I have a few things in my head that I will write about reasonably soon so stay tuned!

The logo is made up of characters from the language the Ancient race of Alterans use in the Stargate series’. It literally translates to just the title of this blog, Rants of a Psychotic Developer.

If you watch any of the Stargate TV shows, you will notice this language is all over the place. It is very highly used in the new show, Stargate Universe. Every piece of text on the ship uses the Alteran language. There are also quite a few hidden messages within the text that add extra jokes or extra bits of info to the show. The countdown regularly shown to indicate the time until FTL is a very easy to decipher example of the language. Numbers are defined by the amount of space that is filled, as well as a small block at the bottom of the character, as shown in the image below:

The Alteran language within the show translates directly into English to make it easy to understand. There are equivalent symbols for each letter. The only exception to this is that the letters F and U have the same symbol.

Well, now you know, and you should feel a little more geeky for it…
